The department of parks and recreation was started in July 2011 with the assistance of a 3 year Tennessee Recreation Initiative Program (TRIP) grant. The department is responsible for park grounds, facilities, programs, and activities and is under the direction of Jill Simmons. The department is proud to be a member of the Tennessee Recreation and Parks Association (TRPA) and National Recreation and Parks Association (NRPA).
The Community Center and Playground officially opened in November of 2011. Both facilities are located at 1181 Louisville Highway. The park is open daily from daylight to dusk.
